About Dharma Sangha:

Dharma Sangha is an international non-profit Wisdom School rooted in the Lineage Teachings of the Zen Buddhist Tradition. The community was founded by Zentatsu Baker Roshi, the Successor of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi, with two beautiful Centers: The Crestone Mountain Zen Center in Southern Colorado and the Zen Buddhist Center Schwarzwald in Germany. Crestone Mountain Zen Center (CMZC) serves as the Dharma Sangha Center for Monastic Zen Practice and Personal Retreats. Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains above the San Luis Valley, CMZC offers a transformative space for individuals seeking personal and societal transformation. Visitors can participate in seminars, join the resident community for extended stays, or simply visit as guests.

On the other hand, the Zen Buddhist Center Schwarzwald (ZBZS) in Germany is dedicated to lay-adept practice under the leadership of Tatsudo Nicole Baden Roshi. Positioned on the southern edge of the Black Forest, ZBZS provides a setting for both beginning and experienced practitioners looking for long or short stays to deepen their Zen practice. Both centers offer a space for individuals to engage in teachings, seminars, personal retreats, and communal living, emphasizing the possibilities for personal and societal transformation amidst the contemporary challenges facing the global community. Through diverse programs and engagement opportunities, Dharma Sangha invites seekers from all backgrounds to explore the enactment of wisdom and compassion in today’s world.

About Volunteer Opportunity in Colorado at Zen Buddhist Center:

The Summer Volunteer Program at Crestone Mountain Zen Center offers a unique opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves in Zen monastic life from mid-May to the end of September. Volunteers receive room and board in exchange for assisting with daily chores during the Summer Guest Season. Participants join the daily routine of the monks and residents, which includes morning and evening meditation, communal meals, self-guided study time, and work periods. They also have the chance to attend Dharma-Talks, Question & Answer sessions, and training sessions to learn about Zen monastic life. In addition to following the daily schedule, volunteers will receive training in one or more of three focus areas: Kitchen and Cooking, Gardening, or Maintenance of Buildings and Grounds. Volunteers will have the opportunity to apply their skills by helping with hosting Summer Guest Season Retreats and assisting with the daily monastic schedule.
