Anthony and Amy initiated this project alongside their inaugural team of volunteers and a handful of acquaintances in 2020. At that time, our cozy Italian village nestled in southern Tuscany, Castell’Azzara, housed approximately four long-term expatriates. Castell’Azzara, renowned for its rugged charm and authentic ambiance, had traditionally remained off the radar for foreign tourists, exuding a sense of antiquity and untouched beauty. However, through their extensive online community and network, an influx of foreigners began to arrive in droves. This surge in interest resulted in the sale of 25 properties within the first year. Subsequently, they intentionally halted their expansion in 2022, recognizing that the rapid pace of growth had become overwhelming, making it challenging to manage the influx of interest, logistics, and overall workload.
Now, with renewed vigor and enhanced expertise, they have recommenced their journey of growth. Their brainchild, has undergone a significant transformation, now standing as a fully developed campus, with approximately 60% of its potential realized. Offering accommodations tailored for short-term stays and retreats, they serves as a communal hub, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds. It functions not as a residential space, but rather as a vibrant nexus where community members converge to foster connections, engage in learning endeavors, and bask in moments of camaraderie and enjoyment. The community serves as a platform for collective enrichment, providing a space where individuals can convene, exchange ideas, and revel in moments of personal growth and transformation.
