About Enota:

Enota is a unique community nestled in Hiawassee, Georgia, on over 60 wooded acres of land that were once sacred Cherokee territory. The property has a rich history, having been confiscated by the US government during the 1800s gold rush and subsequently used as a boys camp by the YMCA. Enota is now dedicated to conservation and educational efforts, actively preserving its natural surroundings and promoting sustainable practices. Surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest, Enota offers a tranquil environment with clean air and water, located just 1.5 miles from the Appalachian Trail and in close proximity to Brasstown Bald Mountain, the highest peak in Georgia.

Enota operates as a non-profit volunteer organization focused on leaving the planet in a better state than they found it. The community includes a retreat center, cabins, RV and camping sites, as well as an organic farm. Residents, known as Work Exchangers, play a crucial role in maintaining the property and serving guests. Responsibilities range from housekeeping and cooking to farming, animal care, and maintenance. Additionally, Enota offers various accommodations for personal retreats, conferences, and workshops, with facilities capable of hosting up to 160 people. The community emphasizes a simple, no-frills lifestyle, seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and dedication to healthy living practices.
