About Aloha Animal Sanctuary:

Aloha Animal Sanctuary is O’ahu’s first 501(c)(3) non-profit sanctuary dedicated to caring for farmed animals. Established in January 2019 by a passionate team of animal rights activists, the sanctuary was created in response to the urgent need for a safe haven for neglected and abused farmed animals. The founders recognized that many people lack personal connections with these animals, despite their ubiquitous presence in the food industry. By establishing the sanctuary, they aim to promote compassion and understanding toward these creatures, fostering a culture where individuals see animals as sentient beings deserving of love and respect.

Situated at the base of the lush Ko’olau Mountain Range in Kahalu’u, Kaneohe, the sanctuary spans two acres of agrarian land, providing a serene environment for the animals. About Work Trade in Hawaii at an Animal Sanctuary:

The Work Trade Program at Aloha Animal Sanctuary is an enriching opportunity for individuals committed to animal care and sanctuary operations. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of three months and need to dedicate 25 hours per week, assisting with various duties that support the day-to-day operations of the sanctuary. This program not only provides hands-on experience with farm animals but also fosters personal growth through engagement in community workdays, and unique projects related to animal care and construction.

Work Trade Opportunity Duties:
– Assist in animal caregiving, including feeding and administering medications
– Help with landscaping tasks like weed-whacking and plant maintenance
– Participate in building projects and construction to improve animal habitats
– Maintain a clean and safe sanctuary environment
– Respond to emails and assist with online support tasks
